Panel Discussion

panel1

Over 70 attendees came out on the evening of Friday April 7, 2006 for "Wanted: A Plan," the Ed Bacon Foundation's panel discussion on the future of planning and civic leadership in Philadelphia. The event, part of the citywide Design Philadelphia event series, was held at the Charter High School for Architecture & Design (CHAD).

The discussion, moderated by CBS 3's Mark Howard, was lively and thoughtful, covering subjects from gaming to Independence Mall, the breaking of the city's height limit to the 10-year tax abatement. The panel was remarkably diverse, representing a wide range of experiences and views.

The event began with remarks from Peter Kountz, CHAD's Interim Head of School, and Gregory Heller, President of the Ed Bacon Foundation, and was followed by a catered reception. The Foundation would like to thank the panel, the staff at CHAD, and everyone who came and made this event such a success.

Panelists:

  • Eva Gladstein, Director of Neighborhood Transformation for the City of Philadelphia
  • Alan Greenberger, principal with MGA Partners and co-founder of Design Advocacy Group
  • Thomas Hine, writer and former architecture and design critic of the Philadelphia Inquirer
  • David Thornburgh, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Economy League

Moderator: Marc Howard, Anchor on CBS 3 TV
