Famous son honors famous dad

Kevin Bacon and sisters Karin, Elinor and Kira shopped at DiBruno Bros. (1730 Chestnut) and strolled through Rittenhouse Square yesterday afternoon after the actor spoke at a City Hall ceremony to commemorate "Ed Bacon Day." Ed Bacon, renowned city planner who died in October, would have turned 96 yesterday.

Kevin, who was raised at 21st & Locust, shared memories of walking through the city with his father and thanked the city for honoring his dad. The floor was opened to the crowd at the ceremony set up by Gregory Heller's Ed Bacon Foundation, and several in the architectural and urban- planning communities also shared memories about Bacon.
