Edward Hillis

Director

Edward Hillis has owned Domus Inc., a Philadelphia-based general construction company since 1976. In that time, Domus has developed from a modest, $50,000 a-year company to one of the Philadelphia region's major players, bringing in $60 million annually with over 150 employees. Domus has completed a variety of commercial, multi-family residential and institutional projects throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Mr. Hillis has always valued historic preservation, and has guided Domus to earn a number of major awards for its residential rehabilitation work. These include the prestigious Rudy Bruner Award, Commerce Bank's Building Excellence Award, Preservation Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commision's Neighborhood Revitalization Award, the Presidential Point of Light Honor Award, and the Foundation for Architecture's Award of Merit for Urban Design Excellence. Mr. Hillis sits on the Board of the YouthBuild Charter School and is a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia. Born in Litchfield, Illinois, he graduated from the University of Missouri in 1971. Today he lives in Philadelphia, and has four children.
